Quantum Circuit Emulator (QCE)
A gate-based emulator in which quantum gates are implemented with conventional electronic components that directly manipulate the qubit state.
I am a PhD candidate in Physics at the University of Utah, where I received my MS in Physics in 2025. My research is experimental: I design and build classical analog electronic circuits that emulate quantum computing and quantum artificial intelligence algorithms, using classical interference and a universal set of quantum gates implemented in hardware.
Alongside the emulator work, I have built laboratory instrumentation for superconducting-device research, including a specialized double-angle e-beam evaporation chamber and a microwave technique for measuring the kinetic inductance of superconducting nanowires. I earned my BS in Physics from the University of Lahore with a Gold Medal for the highest standing in my graduating class, and I was awarded the Swigart Fellowship at Utah.
Analog Quantum Computer Emulator (Fall 2024 – ongoing). My research explores two hardware implementations that share a common analog-signal operational framework, in which quantum algorithms are carried out by conventional electronic components working on the principle of classical interference.
A gate-based emulator in which quantum gates are implemented with conventional electronic components that directly manipulate the qubit state.
A matrix-based architecture in which analog circuitry performs weighted linear transformations for quantum artificial intelligence, with each qubit acting as an analog neuron.
Measurement and fabrication tools for superconducting nanowires, including kinetic-inductance measurement and double-angle e-beam deposition.
Instrumentation · Fall 2023
Full mechanical assembly of a double-angle deposition chamber: designed the sample holder, implemented a liquid-nitrogen-cooled sample stage, built the sample loading, retrieval and manipulation mechanism, and machined custom components.
Experimental · Summer 2023
Devised a microwave measurement technique to determine the kinetic inductance of superconducting nanowires.
BS Thesis · 2020 – 2021
Implemented Shor’s algorithm on a quantum processor with Qiskit and Python to solve integer-factorization problems that are classically intractable.
